$50 smart thermostat rebates help you save
Don’t touch the thermostat.” How many times did we hear that growing up? Unfortunately, our parents were right. According to ENERGYSTAR.gov, heating and cooling your home can account for over 50% of your total energy use.
Programming your thermostat is an easy way to start savings. Smart thermostats not only help reduce natural gas usage while maintaining your comfort in the home, but it also provides you with the option to control the temperature of your home from your phone.

Before you buy
Make sure the unit you’re considering is compatible with your home’s HVAC system.
- You can find that information on the thermostat manufacturer’s websites or consult an HVAC technician.
- You may want to consider a range extender for your home’s WI-FI router. This will prevent periodic disconnections and improve the smart thermostat’s overall connectivity.
How to qualify
- Rebates are available to Columbia Gas of Virginia residential customers for ENERGY STAR® smart thermostats.
- All efficiency measures must have been purchased and installed on or after January 1, 2025.
- All purchases and installations must be made by December 31, 2025.
- Your rebate application must be received within 120 days of purchase and installation of a qualifying smart thermostat, or by January 31, 2026, whichever is sooner.
- All measures are eligible only if the residence has primary natural gas heating and are eligible only as retrofit installation in existing homes. New construction is not eligible.
- Rebate quantities are limited. WarmWise rebates and program offerings are not guaranteed. Program funding is limited to levels approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
- Rebate and program requests are processed and approved on a first-come, first-served basis.
Apply for your rebate today

An Authorized Agent Addendum is required when a renter submits a rebate request on behalf of the property owner/manager.
