Contact: Jennifer DuBois CHESTER, VA. – May 16, 2013 – Columbia Gas of Virginia is responding to a facility damage at the intersection of 6th and Clay Streets in Lynchburg, Va. The company’s 2” gas main was damaged when a piece of heavy equipment operated by a third-party contractor fell into a hole and struck the gas line. No injuries or evacuations have been reported.

Columbia crews are working with Lynchburg city officials and emergency responders to safely remove the heavy equipment so company crews can inspect the gas main and make any necessary repairs. Gas service to approximately 10 customers has been interrupted and will be restored later today when the repairs are complete.
