Staunton, VA – Sept. 4, 2012 – Columbia Gas of Virginia will start underground utility construction work in Staunton along S. Coalter St. between Commerce Road (Route 11) and Vine St. beginning on September 15. Additional work will be performed on the east side of Kalorama St. An electronic sign at the intersection of S. Coalter St. and Commerce Rd (Route 11) has been placed to alert the community in advance of the construction which is expected to take about two months to complete.

The traffic inconvenience is a result of Columbia Gas completing work on a $250,000 investment replacing older aging natural gas facilities. The construction work is part of the $100 million five-year investment Columbia Gas is making to modernize its natural gas infrastructure across Virginia. Go to www.columbiagasva.com for more details on the infrastructure modernization program.

Columbia Gas reminds commuters to stay alert to changing traffic conditions in the construction work zone. Please pay close attention to work signs and work zone flaggers who will direct you safely around the construction activity. Please remain patient as the construction is being performed to improve the reliability of the natural gas infrastructure used to heat homes and support businesses in Staunton.
