Price to Compare
The price to compare is the local distribution company's charge for gas supply service. The price to compare is provided to consumers so that they can effectively compare the local distribution company's regulated rate to offers from competitive service providers.
Columbia Gas of Virginia's Current Price to Compare (as of April 30, 2013) is:
- $0.4548 per Ccf (for all rate blocks) for CHOICE® residential customers. All gas consumed Ccf.
- $0.4141 per Ccf (for all rate blocks) for CHOICE® small commercial and industrial (SGTS) transportation service customers. For the first 200 Ccf.
- Large commercial and industrial customers need to access our current tariff starting on sheet number 3 to acquire their current rate.

Residential Sales Service (RS) for customers that were not on Residential Transportation Service (RTS) in the last 12 months:
- $1.0572 per Ccf for the first all natural gas consumed each month
- $14.25 per month customer charge
- $1.01 per month Infrastrucutre Reliability & Replacement Adjustment
Residential Sales Service (RS) for customers that were on Residential Transportation Service (RTS) in the last 12 months:
- $1.0097 per Ccf for all natural gas consumed each month
- $14.25 per month customer charge
- $1.01 per month Infrastrucutre Reliability & Replacement Adjustment

Residential Transportation Service (RTS) Rates (Customer CHOICE® Program)
Our customers are eligible to participate in the Customer CHOICE® Program, which enables customers to choose their gas supplier. Customers choosing an alternative supplier pay the following service and delivery charge rates to us. These rates do not include the gas costs from the supplier.
Residential Transportation Service (RTS) for customers that were not on Residential Sales Service (RS) in the last 12 months:
- $0.5549 per Ccf for all natural gas consumed each month
- $14.25 per month customer charge
- $1.01 per month Infrastrucutre Reliability & Replacement Adjustment
Price to Compare (as of April 30, 2013) = $0.4548 per Ccf for all natural gas consumed.
Residential Transportation Service (RTS) for customers that were on Residential Sales Service (RS) in the last 12 months:
- $0.6024 per Ccf for all natural gas consumed each month
- $14.25 per month customer charge
- $1.01 per month Infrastrucutre Reliability & Replacement Adjustment
