There are many thousands of miles of underground utilities across Virginia and the United States. It requires everyone to respect these underground utilities and keep our communities safe.  We have created A Guide for Public Officials which provides an overview of the priority Columbia Gas of Virginia places on natural gas pipeline safety and prevention underground utility damages. Two versions are available with a 2010 - 11 - Public Official flyer - AS - CGV - NOVA version for communities north of Fredericksburg and a 2010 - 11 - Public Official flyer - PW - CGV - SouthCentral version for communities south and west of Richmond.

Please note: Should you smell natural gas in or around you home, immediately leave the area and from a safe location dial Columbia Gas at 800.544.5606 and local emergency responders at 911. Do not light a match or candle, or operate anything that could cause a spark, including cell phones, lights, appliances, flashlights, power tools until you are outside and away from the natural gas odor.
