Welcome to New Business Services. This section is dedicated to business owners, building owners and managers, developers, architects, engineers or conversion customers who are involved in new construction, increasing an existing gas load, adding a gas appliance, or are interested in learning more about converting to economical, clean and reliable natural gas.
We offer a convenient way for you to inquire about natural gas availability or for you to request a gas tap or meter set. In order to assist you with your particular energy needs, we have provided a series of forms for you to request the products and services you need.
Establish Natural Gas Service for Commercial Customers
Natural Gas Availability To learn more about gas availability to serve your business or new development, please contact our New Business Team at 1-800-440-6111 or submit your information on-line by filling out our Gas Availability & Cost Estimate Form. Depending on the scope of your project, we may need development drawings to be submitted. Our New Business Team representatives will be happy to assist you in determining the location and suitability of Columbia's closest mainline facilities.
Conversions If you currently have natural gas service to your home or business and are interested in converting an existing appliance, water heater, heating or other equipment from an alternate energy source to natural gas, please visit our product pages for product and cost savings information. regarding bringing new natural gas service to your home or business. Please

Service Line and Meter Process
The service line and meter are owned and installed by Columbia Gas of Virginia. To schedule an installation, please contact our New Business Team at 1-800-440-6111or complete a service line/tap request and/or meter set request.
Your building must be under roof and any required vehicular meter protection installed prior to the natural gas meter being installed and turned on. If you have any questions regarding these requirements, one of our New Business Team representatives will be glad to assist you.
Our Ten Day Pledge
When we asked how we can improve our service, builder/developers and others responded "Install my tap and service line more quickly." We heard you, and we’ve changed our processes to meet your needs.
We pledge to install your tap and service line within ten business days once:
- You tell us your site meets our site readiness requirements
AND
- We receive any permits that might be necessary
Our pledge applies to residential and small commercial service (we’ll let you know up front if your service requirements exceed these guidelines). It does not apply to mainline extensions and associated taps. If your site is not ready when we arrive, you will need to call us again and the ten day cycle will reset.
