N. Central Ave. Construction Result of Columbia Gas of Virginia Work

Traffic delays to last approximately three weeks

N. Central Ave., between E. Beverley and Frederick St in Staunton will have traffic delays while Columbia Gas of Virginia (Columbia) completes improvements to its natural gas facilities in the area. The construction has begun and continues weekdays (Mon – Fri) from 7 A.M. to 4 P.M. until Sept. 3, 2010. Utility work signs have been placed along N. Central Ave. alerting commuters to the construction activity.

Columbia is coordinating construction activities with the City of Staunton during its water and storm sewer project from Frederick St. to Baldwin. Columbia will follow the water and storm sewer construction with the natural gas pipeline upgrade project.

The traffic inconvenience is a result of Columbia completing work on a $68,000 investment replacing 600 feet of 4 inch and 400 feet of 6 inch natural gas pipe that allows for the retirement of older aging natural gas facilities.
