Columbia Gas of Virginia Surveying Community on Awareness of Natural Gas and Pipeline Safety
Columbia Gas of Virginia (Columbia Gas) is surveying residents, public officials, contractors, excavators and public officials across the Commonwealth to gather information on their awareness of natural gas and pipeline safety. The “Effective Measurement Survey” is required by the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and the Columbia Gas Pipeline Safety Public Awareness Plan.
The telephone survey is being conducted by a national survey company, Metrix Matrix, and is expected to be completed in early June. Results from the survey will be used to make improvements to the Columbia Gas Public Awareness Plan.
The survey is being performed in accordance with new Federal Regulations (49 CFR Part 192) required for all natural gas distribution companies and pipeline operators. The survey does not fall under the do-not-call regulation.
