Gas of Virginia was the first utility, gas or electric,
in the state to offer customers the freedom to choose
a supplier other than the local utility. |

Much of our service area lies in the so-called "Golden
Crescent," a high-growth corridor that stretches
from northern Virginia south through Fredericksburg and
Richmond, and swings east to the state's Hampton Roads
region. |

Columbia Gas of Virginia has exclusive franchise rights
in 52 of Virginia's 95 counties. |

Our customer growth rate is between 4 and 5 percent each
year, which is much higher than the national average of
about 2 percent per year for natural gas local distribution
companies. |

In 2003, we delivered 75 Bcf of gas to residential, commercial,
industrial and transportation customers (Bcf stands for
billion cubic feet). |
